What is this medicine used for?

Tussipax syrup medicine contains two cough suppressants: codeine and ethylmorphine. Adults are recommended this medication to calm dry and irritant coughs.

How to take it?

Always take tussipax syrup exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if in doubt.

Dosage

This medicine is only for adults.

Oral route.

Strictly comply with medical prescription. If the prescribed doses aren’t effective for you, don’t increase them. Don’t take another cough suppressant at the same time. Instead, consult your doctor.

An adult typically takes 1 tablet as a dose of ethylmorphine or other central antitussives when needed, repeating every 6 hours but not exceeding 4 doses in a day.

In elderly subjects, doses should be halved. Tell your doctor before taking this medication in order to adjust the dosage.

For serious liver diseases that cause hepatic failure, the doses should be reduced by half at the start of treatment. Tell your doctor before taking this medication in order to adjust the dosage.

This medication has been prescribed to you personally in a specific situation:

· It may not be suitable for another case.

· Do not give it to another person.

Frequency of administration

Space the doses at least 6 hours apart.

Coughing occurs and this medication should then be administered. For example, for a cough that only occurs in the evening, a single dose may be sufficient.
